'Pokémon Go' to Soon End Support for Older iOS and Android Devices

The popular mobile game will be getting an update in mid-October. The new update means that mobile devices running Android 5.0, or iOS 10 or 11 will no longer be able to play the game. The game also won’t be able to be played on the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6, according to The 'Pokémon Go' Twitter account. Developer Niantic has defended the decision, ., telling The Verge that this will only impact , “a very small percentage of daily active players.” iPhone 5S and 6 have just 1 GB of RAM, and we don’t want to hold back development and implementation of features for the vast majority of players who have more robust phones, Niantic, to The Verge.
