Demi Lovato Reflects on Her Substance Abuse, Body Issues

At the Teen Vogue Summit, the singer said she's been through a lot, but is a "fighter.". The interview was Lovato's first since she went through a drug overdose in the summer of 2018. The incident left Lovato in a Los Angeles hospital for over two weeks. Just weeks before the apparent overdose, Lovato admitted to relapsing following years of sobriety. At the summit, the 27-year-old says she "wouldn't change the direction of her life.". The "Sorry Not Sorry" songstress added that she "loves the person she is today.". What I see in the mirror (is) someone that’s overcome a lot. I’ve been through a lot and I genuinely see a fighter, Demi Lovato, via Teen Vogue Summit. I don’t see a championship winner in there, but I see a fighter and someone who is going to continue to fight no matter (what) challenges are thrown their way, Demi Lovato, via Teen Vogue Summit. Lovato also discussed her progress with body acceptance throughout the year. A huge thing for me has been body acceptance. Sometimes I look in the mirror and I'm like, 'Oh I do not like what I see.' But in those moments, I don't sit there and dwell on it. I also don't lie to myself, Demi Lovato, via Teen Vogue Summit.
