‘Crazy Rich Asians’ Co-Writer Quits Sequel Over Pay Disparity

According to 'The Hollywood Reporter,' Adele Lim was offered a little more than one tenth of what her male counterpart was offered. Lim was reportedly offered $110,000, while co-writer Peter Chiarelli was offered between $800,000 to $1 million. Chiarelli offered to split his salary with Lim, but she declined. If I couldn’t get pay equity after CRA, I can’t imagine what it would be like for anyone else, given that the standard for how much you're worth is having established quotes from previous movies, which women of color would never have been [hired for], Adele Lim, via 'The Hollywood Reporter'. The veteran TV writer was initially brought on to provide a female perspective and authentic touch due to her Southeast Asian upbringing. Chiarelli has reportedly been working with director Jon M.
